Timing Belts & Chains

Timing Belts and Chains

The timing belt turns the camshaft(s) at exactly half the speed of the crankshaft while keeping a precise alignment ensuring that the crankshaft will make two revolutions for every camshaft revolution. Every engine has at least one camshaft, some have as many as four. The camshaft itself causes the intake and exhaust valves to open and close in time with the pistons that move up and down in the cylinders. The valves have to open and close at precisely the right time in relationship to the piston movement so that your engine will run properly. If the timing is off so is your ride, and if the timing is off for long you could blow your engine.

Checking your timing belt can be a difficult process best left to the professionals at Auto Kruser's. Timing belts can fail without warning, so your only real protection is to change them at your car manufacturer's recommended intervals.

Auto Kruser's has all manufacturer recommended service information, and timing belt replacement is just one of the many repair services the trained, tested and top-of-the line technicians can perform. With the use of their engine diagnostic testing they can tell if you might also need a water pump replacement at the same time, which is very common.

At Auto Kruser's we recommend checking at the same time because the bulk of the labor needed to change your water pump is the same labor needed to replace your belt. So you end up saving a lot of money. And saving you money on quality repair is what Auto Kruser's is all about.
